SemaiSens ingests Sentinel-2 imagery on a 5-day revisit cycle under cloud-free conditions, which is the standard revisit frequency for the Sentinel-2 constellation at mid-latitudes. Planet and other commercial imagery providers available on Pro and Enterprise plans can deliver daily or near-daily revisits for your fields. Your imagery history and the date of the most recent acquisition are always visible in the field timeline view.
When cloud cover obscures a field during a satellite pass, SemaiSens automatically skips that acquisition and flags the gap in your field timeline. The platform uses a configurable cloud cover filter (default: 20%) — any scene with cloud cover above that threshold over your field is excluded from analysis. You can adjust the threshold in Settings → Preferences → Cloud Cover Filter. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery, which penetrates cloud cover, is available as a supplementary source on Enterprise plans.
SemaiSens supports all major row crops (corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, canola), specialty crops (vegetables, tree fruits, nuts, vines), and pasture and forage grasses. Vegetation indices such as NDVI and NDRE are crop-agnostic and work across all plant types. Crop-specific stress models and growth stage tracking are available for corn, soybeans, wheat, and cotton. If you grow a crop not yet covered by a dedicated model, the core index analysis still applies — contact support to request a new crop model.
The minimum supported field size is 1 hectare (approximately 2.5 acres). Fields smaller than 1 hectare can be created and stored in SemaiSens, but they will not be processed for imagery analysis or vegetation index calculation. This limit exists because the spatial resolution of Sentinel-2 imagery (10 m per pixel) does not provide statistically reliable zonal statistics for very small areas.
Yes. SemaiSens accepts drone-captured orthomosaic imagery in GeoTIFF format. Navigate to Fields → [Field Name] → Upload Imagery, select your GeoTIFF file, and choose the bands present in your capture (RGB, multispectral, or thermal). SemaiSens processes the upload and calculates supported vegetation indices from the available bands. Drone imagery uploads count against your monthly storage quota — check your current usage in Settings → Billing.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Billing → Manage Subscription → Cancel Plan. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the Free tier. Your field data and historical analysis are retained on the Free tier; features exclusive to paid plans become unavailable. If you want to delete your account and all associated data entirely, contact support@example.com.
Yes. SemaiSens supports fields in any country where Sentinel-2 imagery is available, which covers the entire globe. Platform language is currently English only, but coordinates, units (metric or imperial), and date formats can be configured per account in Settings → Preferences. Some third-party integrations — such as John Deere Operations Center organization sync — may be subject to regional restrictions imposed by the integration partner.
All coordinates in SemaiSens are expressed in WGS84 (EPSG:4326) — the same reference system used by GPS devices and most web mapping platforms. Exported GeoTIFF rasters use UTM projection (the appropriate zone for each field) by default, but you can select WGS84 geographic coordinates or a custom EPSG code in the export settings. Field boundary GeoJSON files always use WGS84 longitude/latitude.
Yes. SemaiSens supports role-based team access at the farm operation level. Navigate to Settings → Team and invite your agronomist, advisor, or consultant by email address. You can assign one of three roles: Viewer (read-only access to fields and analysis), Scout (can create and edit scouting observations), or Manager (full access except billing). Invited users receive an email with a link to join your organization — they do not need an existing SemaiSens account.
SemaiSens retains all field data, imagery, and analysis results for the life of your account on Pro and Enterprise plans. On the Free tier, data older than 24 months may be archived and requires a plan upgrade to access. You can export all of your historical data at any time using the bulk export feature — see the Data Export guide for instructions.
Yes. Your farm data — including field boundaries, imagery, crop plans, and analysis results — is private to your account and any team members you explicitly invite. SemaiSens does not sell, share, or license your data to third parties, including input suppliers, grain traders, or other farmers. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). SemaiSens ingests Sentinel-2 imagery from the European Space Agency (ESA) at no additional cost on all plan tiers — Sentinel-2 is a publicly funded, freely available dataset. Pro and Enterprise plans also include access to Planet PlanetScope (3–5 m resolution, daily revisit) and Airbus SPOT imagery, which are commercial sources licensed by SemaiSens and included in your subscription cost. You are not billed separately for individual satellite scenes. Drone imagery uploaded by you uses your own licensed data and your plan’s storage quota.
